Miniature multioctave light source based on a monolithic microcavity
Optical microresonators are ideal tools for the reduction of the threshold of optical parametric oscillation based on four-wave mixing. Usually, the efficiency and bandwidth of the resonant process are interdependent due to stringent phase matching requirements leading to limitation of the bandwidth of the spectrum generated for a given pump power. We demonstrate a continuous-wave low-threshold...
متن کاملInP-Based Cylindrical Microcavity Light-Emitting Diodes
We have investigated the properties of InP-based microcavity light-emitting diodes ( = 1 6 m). Our objective was mainly to study the effects of lateral confinement of optical modes, which was achieved by the wet oxidation of double In0 52Al0 48As layers. The smallest devices had a cavity radius of 0.5 m, which becomes comparable to where is the effective refractive index of the photon emitting ...
متن کاملDesigning an Am-Be miniature neutron source
Background: Miniature neutron sources with high neutron flux have abundant applications in medicine, industry and researches. The most important general characteristic of miniature neutron sources is their diameter which is 3mm in average. In this research, we have surveyed and designed an Am-Be miniature neutron source fabrication. Materials and Methods: This investigation resulted in creation...
متن کاملMonolithic integration of III-V nanowire with photonic crystal microcavity for vertical light emission.
A novel photonic structure formed by the monolithic integration of a vertical III-V nanowire on top of a L3 two-dimensional photonic crystal microcavity is proposed to enhance light emission from the nanowire. The impact on the nanowire spontaneous emission rate is evaluated by calculating the spontaneous emission factor β, and the material gain at threshold is used as a figure of merit of this...
متن کاملSilicon-based monolithic optical frequency comb source.
We demonstrate the generation of broad-bandwidth optical frequency combs from a CMOS-compatible integrated microresonator. We characterize the comb quality using a novel self-referencing method and verify that the comb line frequencies are equidistant over a bandwidth of 115 nm (14.5 THz), which is nearly an order of magnitude larger than previous measurements.
